Salicylic Acid

Salicylates are salts of Salicylic Acid and Salicylates are naturally found in various foods like Almonds, Apples, Cherries, Cucumbers, Grapes, Peppers, Tomatoes, Coffee, and Tea. Salicylates and Salicylic Acid have proven anti-inflammatory benefits for the entire body, including topical benefits. Salicylic Acid has also been shown to be one of the most powerful skin cleansers and one of the most effective compounds approved to clean pores and treat acne.

 

It is approved by the FDA for treating acne and its effectiveness against acne is why we included it in our Acne Cleanser, alongside our other incredible natural ingredients.

STUDY DATA

In 1989, a study compared 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash and Salicylic Acid cleanser, to determine which was more effective against Acne Vulgaris. Within the first 2 weeks, Salicylic Acid showed significant improvement in acne, over the 10% benzoyl peroxide wash. (9)

 

Researchers in 1992, conducted 3 separate placebo-controlled studies. Each study was conducted to see if Salicylic Acid pad cleansers were effective at treating Acne Vulgaris. Acnes, it is a type of Gram-Positive Bacteria. In 2010, a research study performed in Asia, found that Lemongrass Oil was effective at killing Gram-Positive Bacteria. (5)

 

A study on Lemongrass Oil in 2018, found that Lemongrass and Tea Tree Oil when combined had Antibacterial activity against both Propionibacterium Acnes bacteria (acne causing bacteria), and not only that it had antibacterial activity against S. There are Tea Tree Oil has three components in it which are called terpinen-4-ol, alpha-terpineol, and alpha-pinene. In 1995, these three compounds were tested for effectiveness against 3 types of bacteria including, the acne causing bacteria, Propionibacterium Acnes.
